Farewell for the Weekend & Last Night’s Hill Training

Hi ALL – happy August and for my fellow Canadians – HAPPY LONG WEEKEND! Nothing too crazy going on here, just a family trip to the cottage. Because I will be MIA for the next few days (no cell service!!), I will leave you with a few race recaps and a recipe to entertain you until Monday:)

Last night, T and I tackled the hills – or should I say MOUNTAIN. Dulude Hill in Ottawa used to be a small ski hill. T decided it would be a great idea to do some hill training, which I was thrilled about, until I saw that mountain.

150m of straight incline. We started with an easy pace warmup. We then aimed to do 10 sprints up/10 jogs down but only managed 6. We were huffing and puffing for a good while, but the view from the top was out of this world.

Personally, I love hill training. It goes along in the same category as long runs – the endorphins and the pride of completing the workout by far outshines the pain during it. Hill training is usually a pretty short workout, but really works every muscle in the body – my legs are pretty JELL-O-like this morning! I also love the fact that such a short workout always merits some kind of treat:)

We finished the night with steak, avocado and grilled zucchini:)

Today calls for yoga, green juice, driving and SO MUCH READING. This weekend calls for hot dogs, s’mores, family, swimming and guess what – MORE READING. Have a great weekend where ever you are!!

Any exciting weekend plans?

Love or hate hill training?
